In August 2021, she joined the CMG Washington, D.C. Bureau. She previously worked as an investigative reporter for FOX13 Memphis (WHBQ). During her time in Memphis, Kirstin walked miles with protesters in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and covered the subsequent police reform changes. She also received a 2021 Regional Murrow Award for her two-part series “Black in America: Generational Pain and Healing,” which focused on the racial inequity experiences of four generations of Memphis men.

Furthermore, Garriss previously worked as a Government Reporter for Spectrum News in Charlotte, NC, a statewide hyperlocal cable station.
